FAQs
Q: Who Is Welcome?
A: We strongly feel that our job as followers of Jesus is to welcome ALL people so that all people may know and experience the love, forgiveness, and mercy of God. Because of that commitment we practice “open table communion.” That means we invite you to participate in this Sacred mystery; because Jesus set the guest list we will not turn anyone away from His Table.
Q: Do I Have To Watch My Kiddos, Or Will You?
A: Children are gifts from God, and they are cherished in our community. Each week our children are welcomed to join us in our worship, and at 10:00 on Sundays they are invited to participate in their own age specific environments. Beyond Sundays, we offer a variety of service opportunities as we seek to partner with families in raising children who follow the Jesus way of living.
Q: What Do You Believe?
A: We hold to the essential orthodox Christian beliefs, as best expressed in the Apostles Creed and the Nicene Creed. These historic creeds connect us with the long history of Christian faith, and we join with centuries of Christians in affirming these beliefs. At First Love we are exploring not only what the creeds meant in the early centuries but also its ongoing importance and relevance for our Christian faith and practice today.
Q: Are You Egalitarian?
A: Yes! Thanks for asking. We believe that calling and gifting are not gender specific so we don’t exclude anyone based on gender. As Jesus followers, we look to Him as the leader of the way and follow Him in radical inclusion.
Q: Do I Have To Wear Fancy Pants?
A: No, our Sunday services are come as you are. Our weekly services are the primary way we gather as a local church body to worship together, learn from the Sacred text, pray for one another, and create a space to experience the Spirit. Your children are welcomed here, so bring the whole crew. Come early to enjoy a free cup of coffee, and if you love your fancy pants you are more than welcomed to wear them.
